Video 4: Project Goals

Project Goals

This section will provide you with an overview of ProjectGoals.

The project goal is a single statement describing what is to be achieved by the project’s implementation and/or what role the project will play in addressing the current community condition. It can describe a reduction or resolution of a negative condition, or it can describe an expanded capacity to successfully address the current community condition. The project goal should be achievable within the timeframe allotted for the project.

  • Hello. Welcome to the 2025 ANA pre-application training, Project Goal. The project goal is the next element in the NOFO that you'll be responding to. Element two asks you to describe how the project goal is achievable by the end of the project period. Your project goal is essentially the inverse of your current community condition. That condition statement was the biggest barrier. The goal of your project is what are you going to be achieving through the successful implementation of your project to help you overcome that condition. Similar to the last chapter, you'll want to start this section off by highlighting what the project goal statement is. It'll be one sentence in length, bolded, italicized. Stand out to the reader so that they know exactly what the goal of your project is.
  • In your statement though, I caution you to be realistic and ensure that it's achievable in the timeframe. This has to be completed within the project period, so make sure that it's achievable. Here's an example of a project goal statement: "The goal of this project is to establish a year-round sustainable food security for the village of Shallow Creek." It is relevant to that condition statement and, by successful completion of the project, will help them reduce, eliminate, or minimize that condition. Following your one sentence statement, you'll then create supporting narrative, describing how it's relevant to that condition, but also how it's achievable by the end of the project period. You'll reference other components in your project, and you'll really speak to how you can complete this within the time that you've given yourself or your project.
  • Here's an example of a possible project goal, and here they are talking to the different components within their project and really outlining, again, how it's relevant to that condition, but then it's something that they can achieve through the completion of the project. For this activity, I'd like you to write how your project will improve or reduce that current community condition. Try to get it down to one sentence so it's very succinct. Then, also provide description of how the project goal can be achieved by the end of the project period. This is where you can talk more in depth about what you are wanting to accomplish in the timeframe you've given yourself to help you overcome that condition.
